Is email marketing becoming less relevant? A new report suggests that many customers now see marketing emails as much less relevant to them than they were previously. According to the e-Dialog E-mail Attitudes Report, which surveyed 2,000 UK adults, there is a 34% increase in the number of people who are finding emails irrelevant to them, compared to the 2009 report, with 39% of respondents now saying that marketing emails are less relevant.

The report also concludes that 47% of readers felt that the most relevant content to them was special offers with other items like delivery updates and news about the brand seen as much less relevant.

The report's authors suggest that brands need to look very closely at their email strategies if they want their customers to remain engaged.

Making it easy for customers to unsubscribe, allowing customers to alter the frequency of emails they receive and adding share buttonss so users can pass on content on are ways that the company suggests will make emails more relevant.
