Conde Nast to roll out ‘digital tablet formats’ of 18 of its titles Conde Nast in the US is set to roll out a digital tablet format across all 18 of its titles this year, says a report in Mediaweek The company is also apparently working with its editors and publishers to come up with new ways of driving revenue via the tablet format, so for example in the case of Gourmet it could develop an ecommerce platform and start selling branded cooking utensils and related products.

David Carey, a Condé Nast group president, told Mediaweek, the company will try to initiate "well-thought-out partnerships" with other companies and entrepreneurs in businesses that match the mag titles.

The integration of ecommerce and brand positioning among the editorial in the tablet format could well provide interesting food for thought for customer publishing and branded content providers.

Earlier in the week Conde Nast displayed tablet version of its flagship technology tiles Wired. The version was running on a Hewlett Packard tablet but it is widely expected that Conde Nast has inked a deal to distribute tablet versions of its titles on the Apple tablet PC which is expected to be announced later this week.

Other publishing companies have been exploring the potential of tablet PCs for a while now, with one company, Hearst Digital, even creating its own ereader - the Skiff - to display its titles.
